A new life is always precious, and the birth of Parker Brett adds a precious new accolade to the career of Brett Favre. Assuming he returns to play for the 2010 NFL season, Brett Favre could be the first grandfather ever to lace up spikes in the NFL, according to various sources. The first active NFL grandfather may have been George Blanda but that is disputed.

“Deanna and I are very proud to welcome our grandchild Parker Brett to the Favre family. Parker Brett was born on Friday, April 2, weighing 7 lb. 7 oz., and we’re pleased to say that both (sic) Mom, Dad and Parker Brett are healthy and doing great.”

Many wonder if he will play long enough to be alongside Parker Brett, but of course that would be almost impossible. Favre hasn’t even decided whether he wants to retire and continue into his own business ventures such as payday loans, or if he’d rather return to the Minnesota Vikings in 2010. He’ll be 41 years old on October 10, and he’s won more games than any other starting quarterback in NFL history (181). The publication quotes an unnamed source as saying “I think he (Favre) does not mind trying it again.”

Brittany Favre should probably wait on “trying it again” until Parker Brett is out of diapers. Then again, Brett Favre never shied away from adversity as a player. Maybe it runs in the family. Whatever Favre’s daughter may decide, she seems to have a loving family supporting her.

Independent contractors are the fastest growing segment of the American workforce as stated by MBO Partners which is a business service that helps with the placement of consultant and freelancers.

Cutting costs can be risky

Independent contractors are invaluable to many businesses, in terms of flexibility as well as talent. They can be disengaged and engaged again without the labor burden and red tape that comes with full-time employees. It costs less to pay for independent contractors to put it simply. Employers who improperly classify workers as independent contractors, however, risk liability for back taxes and significant fines, even when the misclassification is unintentional.

Just by classifying an employee differently, a company will save a lot of money making them disregard the strict rules from the IRS. When employers pay independent contractors and report the compensation on IRS form 1099, they do not pay the payroll taxes and unemployment insurance required when employee compensation is reported on W-2 forms.

As the recent shenanigans of Tiki Barber and Traci Lynn Johnson remind us, celebrity infidelity and breakups sell magazines and drive gossip on the Web. In the case of the Tiki Barber girlfriend from NBC, Traci Lynn Johnson, Barber is leaving his wife of more than a decade, Ginny Barber, so he can be with Ms. Johnson. What makes this situation even more disturbing is that Ginny Barber is eight months pregnant with twins, according to the New York Post. This will be the 3rd and 4th children from their marriage. Children deserve both parents in their lives, and parents owe it to their children to be present in their lives. It matters little what Tiki Barber and girlfriend Traci Lynn Johnson choose to do with their own personal time. Yet the those thing should never come between him being a father, provided that father is, indeed, an honorable man.
