House Warming Party Gifts

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

House warming party is celebrated when you move to a new home of residence. It is the ceremony which was started by the Americans. Normally people take flowers or gift baskets to the ceremony but I think kitchen accessories, wine racks or wine gifts would be great gifts to give away for the new home. They are moving into a new house so these items will be a necessity for them in the new house.

To be celebrate this special moment with your friends and family is the reason why people have house warming parties. This is when your friends and family will wish you all the best in your new home. This ceremony has been going on for many years in America and lately we are seeing a lot of this ceremony across the UK. Normally in UK we just invite people for BBQ and stuff when you move to a new home but we do not name it house warming party.

Giving gifts differs culture wise I think, different people buy different gifts. I have seen a lot of Asian families give away kitchen accessories or other home appliances which come in home use as house warming gifts. On the other hand I have seen British family take a bottle of wine with flower bouquet as a gift for house warming. It’s funny how your ideas and gifts differs culturally no matter if you giving the gifts or receiving the gifts. I visit India few months ago as my friend got married and moved to India. I went to her in laws place with a bottle of wine and they cherished it and showed the hospitality that you normally receive in a 5 star hotel, it was amazing. Last week I went to my English friend’s home with bottle of wine but here I was thanked in a different way.
